Krupicka's Current Board Assignments

 State-wide  

  • Member of Governor Kaine's Working Group on Pre-K, an advisory group to help the governor expand access to preschool in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Chair of the School Readiness Committee on Kaine’s working group, leading the effort to write Virginia's definition of school readiness.  This definition was officially endorsed by the State Board of Education in April 2008, making Virginia one of about 15 states that have taken the cutting-edge step of establishing a vision for how to prepare children for success in school. 
  • Chair of the Virginia Safe Routes to School Network, an organization that brings together advocacy groups, government agencies, and other leaders to support Virginia’s federally funded Safe Routes to School Program.
  • Member of the Virginia Municipal League Transportation Policy Committee, which helps local governments in advocating for transportation policy in the Commonwealth.
Regionally
  • Member of Council of Governments Green Building Task Force, a regional group that develops policies to promote energy efficient and environmentally sensitive development and construction in the Washington D.C. region.  Krupicka has been a leader in Alexandria for green building, prompting city staff members to draft Alexandria's current policy of ensuring all new city buildings use energy efficient and environmentally friendly building practices. 
  • Chair of the Aviation Policy Committee, a Council of Governments committee that designs and monitors noise mitigation strategies for Dulles and National airports, while also creating a regional approach to developing and supporting our airport and aviation industries.
For the City of Alexandria
  • Co-Chair of Eco-City Alexandria, an initiative to produce a vision of sustainability for the city, which led in June 2008 to the passage of Alexandria’s environmental sustainability charter. This grew, in part, out of a set of principles first proposed by Krupicka in 2003. The charter is a first for Virginia and one of the first in the country. 
  • Alexandria Liaison to the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives, a group that promotes and implements ideas derived from best practices in cities around the world.
  • Co-Chair ofthe Economic Sustainability Implementation Committee, a group that works to strengthen the city's economy through a series of policy and regulatory changes that help provide a fair playing field for business and city residents. 
  • Member of the City-School Coordinating Committee, which coordinates activities and plans between the City of Alexandria and the public school system to improve education.
  • Member of Affordable Housing Task Force, an effort to review all affordable housing policies in the city and to recommend new policies to serve Alexandria in the future.
  • Member of the Hospital Task Force, a panel that joins city leaders with INOVA Hospital to ensure all Alexandrian's have access to high quality health care services.
  • Member of the Redevelopment Coordinating Committee for the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority.
Previous Board Assignments

State-wide 

  • Member of the Start Strong Council, created by Gov. Kaine in 2006 to study and recommend policies to expand access to preschool in Virginia. Krupicka was chair of the Evaluation Task Force for this effort.
Regionally

·         Member of the Council of Governments Human Services Committee, which shares information on common human services concerns such as foster parent programs, affordable housing, public health and other related issues.

For the City of Alexandria

  • Co-chair of the Citizen Corps Council, reconstituted in December 2003 by Council to assist the public in preparing for emergencies by obtaining residents' input in the City's overall disaster response.
  • Member of the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership, a partnership between the city and business community to help businesses find sites and facilities, office and retail space, and economic and demographic statistics.
  • Co-chair of the Gang Task Force, which develops and monitors Alexandria's Gang Prevention Strategy. Krupicka has led the effort to improve Alexandria's graffiti removal policies. They are now considered a leading program in the commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Member of the Youth Policy Commission, which examines the effectiveness of youth programs by looking at indicators of youth well-being; makes recommendations regarding city funding for youth programs and services; and coordinates responses among city-wide organizations to handle emerging issues that affect young people. 
  • Member of the Transportation Commission Study Group for the city. In his campaigning for City Council, Krupicka pledged to create a new transportation master plan for Alexandria and he succeeded: This year, the Council formally adopted a new transportation master plan for the first time in over 15 years.
  • Co-chair of the Taxi Work Group, guiding the development of a new taxi industry ordinance and mediating conflicts that had led to 15 years of industry division.
  • Member of the Information Technology Commission, which advises the city government on formulating and implementing IT policy and promoting citizen participation in the formulation of new policies.
  • Vice-chair of the Community Services Board, responsible for directing the city’s policy and overseeing programs for all mental health, mental retardation, and substance abuse services, as well as developing a human rights policy for local programs that provide these services.
  • President of the Del Ray Citizens Association, a highly active neighborhood association that makes recommendations to the city related to local businesses and economic development that affects the mixed income, mixed use region of Del Ray, Alexandria.
